We’re Grinning from Ear to Ear
September 2009
As anticipated–right on time–Ovation received its building Certificate of Occupancy August 21, signaling the final countdown to completing the community. In fact, residents are already moving in and making themselves at home. Oh, what homes! And what a community–what comfort, what convenience!
Residents are easing into the pool and hot tub, enjoying movies on the Blu–ray DVD and 67–inch TV in the card room, and beginning new workout routines in the well–equipped poolside fitness room. The wireless Internet service in the lobby and on the fourth floor–including everywhere on the pool deck–has everyone plugged in wherever they go.
Elsewhere, the intricate architectural roof element is now illuminated at night, drawing rightful attention to this stunning jewel along St. Petersburg’s waterfront.
As residents move in and get to know their neighbors and neighborhood, retail shop owners are getting things up and running, too. Longtime downtown merchant Bernie’s & Son jewelry has reopened its doors along Beach Drive and is delighting customers with unique offerings and familiar Southern hospitality. Mindy Solomon Gallery, 124 Second Avenue NE, is preparing a grand opening Oct. 3, with an inaugural show of works by Sung Jae Choi, Kang Hyo Lee and Sunkoo Yuh, aptly titled "3 from Korea." And Ovation’s own sales office is welcoming visitors to its new home on Second Avenue NE, just next door to the gallery.
Meanwhile, the last of the ground-floor stone cladding is being installed along First Street NE, and we’re continuing to clean, polish and touchup the “back of house.” More important, homeowner inspections and closings continue nearly every day (and are moving along in typical JMC style–very smoothly).
